Jake Lawson was the designer of the DutchBoy program. He is now a reclusive mechanic and inventor living off the grid in Florida. Max and Hannah’s estranged brother and father.

While Jake‘s marriage was crumbling down and losing his lucrative position on the DutchBoy project , he became an alcoholic in order to cope. Jake is also shown as a person that is burdened with anger issues, a history of violence and an inflated ego who frequently butts heads with authority figures and those he dislikes (especially his younger brother Max). Despite this, however, he does have a soft side and a strong moral compass, being more than willing to risk his life to save the planet from a global superstorm.
He also loves his daughter but is struggling to connect with her in any meaningful way as he only gets her two weekends a month before she has to go back to her mother in Atlanta.
